Frequently Asked Questions

We are frequently asked questions about Westminster Communities of Florida, the services we provide, and the availability of our services for people who do not reside on one of our campuses. The following information will help you understand the services that may be available to your older adult church members.

If you have questions not addressed or need information about a specific topic related to older adults, please contact Suzanne Ujcic:

Question 1: My father frequently forgets recent activity and sometimes gets confused in other ways. How do I know if this is normal aging, more serious memory loss, or even Alzheimer’s disease?

Question 2: What are the ten most common Alzheimer’s disease symptoms?

Question 3: My father recently had a stroke and it appears he may need to be in a nursing home permanently. However, we don’t know how long we would be able to pay for his care. Can you explain the state and federal assistance programs that may help us?

Question 4: My mother has experienced memory loss for several years and it is now difficult for my father to take care of her.  In addition, my husband and I work.  We are feeling guilty about placing her in an assisted living or skilled nursing environment.  Where can we get help to make sure we’re doing the best for her?

Question 5: My mother is anticipating hip replacement surgery and will require therapy for a period of time.  Is it possible for her to receive rehabilitative care in your skilled nursing health center located near us?

Question 6: We are very interested in living in a Westminster active-living community. However, we are not sure if we have sufficient assets and income.  What happens if we can no longer pay the monthly service fee?

Question 7: My wife and I are considering moving to a community that offers the lifestyle and services we want. However, we are finding it difficult to understand the terms used to identify the different communities designed for older adults. Can you help us understand the Westminster communities so we can make an informed decision?

Question 8: Finding, researching, and deciding on a retirement community will probably be the most important decision of our lives. How can we be sure we will make the right choice?
