Our Mission

The core values of Westminster Communities of Florida are set out in our Mission Statement.  For every Westminster employee - whether having a daily, personal interaction with our residents or serving in a more removed capacity - the mission is the same: to ensure excellent care for our residents and to honor their dignity, rights, self-respect and independence. We are looking for like-minded professionals to share our vision.

Our history of growth, our respected position in the industry, and, most importantly, the happiness of our residents demonstrate our success in merging sound business practices with the highest standards of service to our special population. For our employees, integrity, responsibility, and a caring attitude are highly valued, and excellence is rewarded through our Legendary Service program.

An Industry Leader

Westminster Communities of Florida opened its first community in 1961 in Bradenton, Florida. Today, with 20 active living, residential assisted living, memory support, and rental retirement communities, and serving 5000 residents, we are the largest organization of its kind in Florida, and the eighth largest in the United States.

Recognized nationally, Westminster Communities of Florida is an industry leader. Mr. James F. Emerson, CEO, has been with the company for over 20 years, and was awarded the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) Award of Honor. Concurrent with his leadership at Westminster Communities of Florida, he travels the country speaking and consulting on the topic of retirement and continuing care housing.

Fiscal Stability

As a not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to a program of responsible stewardship. Westminster Communities of Florida is fiscally sound, having earned a triple (BBB+) Fitch rating and exceeding required reserve funding. We have acquired communities in financial distress and turned them around, placing them on a financially sound footing, achieving impressive occupancy rates, and assuring the success of their mission.
