During Hurricane Ivan, L. and I were returning to the Village, we saw such destruction along the way. Our hearts were broken. But our hearts were uplifted as we saw and felt the love and comfort that was being given to the residents from the staff. They were going up and down stairs carrying trash to the dumpster, giving out water, flashlights, bread, canned chicken. Everything was well organized even though it was hot and there was no running water. A staff member had moved her desk against the wall, making room for a makeshift bed for her to spend the night and stay with her friends, the residents. Click here for the complete letter.
